What Is Copy Trading in Crypto? A Beginner's Guide
Copy trading has become one of the biggest features on modern crypto exchanges. It lets you automatically mirror the trades of experienced 'lead' traders, so you can get exposure to active strategies without placing every order yourself. Here's how it works.
How copy trading works
You browse a leaderboard of verified traders, each showing their historical returns, win rate and risk level. When you copy one, your account automatically opens and closes positions in proportion to theirs. You can stop copying at any time, and you keep full control of your funds.
Lead traders typically earn a share of the profit they generate for followers, which aligns their incentives with yours, though past performance never guarantees future results.
The risks to understand
Copy trading is not risk-free. A trader with great past results can still lose money, and because most crypto copy trading involves leverage, losses can be amplified. Never copy with more than you can afford to lose, and spread across more than one trader rather than betting everything on a single star performer.
Which exchanges do it best
Bitget runs one of the largest copy-trading networks in crypto, while BingX built its whole brand around social and copy trading. WEEX and Bitunix also offer solid copy-trading features alongside their welcome bonuses. Compare them on our exchanges page to find the right fit.
